These 10 córdobas were printed with the date 1985 but only entered circulation in 1988, after the currency reform that set one new córdoba equal to 1000 old ones.
The front shows Comandante Carlos Fonseca Amador, the back a marching formation of Sandinista troops. The watermark shows Augusto César Sandino. Carlos Fonseca Amador (1936–1976) founded in 1961 the movement from which the Sandinista Front grew, and was killed in 1976 without living to see victory.
The reform of February 1988 replaced the devalued currency with a new córdoba at 1000 to 1, and the 1985 notes, never used until then, became money of the new standard.
The note opens the 1985 (1988) series, from 10 to 1000 córdobas, and documents the first of the two reforms Nicaragua went through at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
The VPcoins catalogue unites coins and banknotes from many countries and eras.
